Every Saturday we have workshops in Tahitian and Hawaiian dance
 basics/advance, dance routines, costume making and much more.

Hawaiian dance from the island of Hawaii
Description: Hula/Kahiko (old style) is chanting in traditional costume performed along with percussion such as with the implement ipu heke (hollowed gourd). Hula auana (modern style) is accompanied by songs, ukuleles, guitars, and other instruments.

Tahitian dance from the island of Tahiti
Description: The 'Ote'a is a dance which uses quick and defined hip movements following to the sounds of the Tahitian drumbeats. The Aparima means the "kiss of hands": 'apa (kiss) rima (hands). It is a dance that tells a story which is sung and accompanied with modern instruments (guitar / ukulele).

Maori dance from the island of New Zealand
Description: The Maori dances performed by females use implements such the poi balls which are twirled to simulate the sound of flying birds, of the surf or other sounds. The Maori males perform warrior chants.

Samoan dance from the island of Samoa
Description: Siva is the Samoan word for dance, but it also refers to a particular type of dance in which the performer usually stands and enacts an everday activity. For the Siva the performer usually wears a tuiga , a headdress made of feathers and human hair. The Sasa is a group dance for men and women performed both sitting and standing. Hand movements are used to depict activities taken from every day life.

Fijian dance from the island of Fiji
Description: Men perform club and spear dances while women do the fan dances. The dancers are nearly always costumed in grass skirts with decorative arm and wrist bands, their bodies oiled, faces painted and hair decorated in flowers, shells or other woven ornaments.
